Last year, we introduced a new tool called a Dermascope that stylists can use to analyze your scalp health. If your scalp has taken a beating this summer from the sun, salt water or has been badly sunburned, you might want to consider a scalp analysis with the Dermascope.

The Dermascope (pictured below) helps us to diagnose dandruff and sebum issues, which block the normal oxygenation of the hair and can cause hair loss. It is a hand-held epiluminescence microscope used to study the scalp and hair roots. Check out the mini movie that shows how the process works.

Join us in congratulating Alison and her husband Brian on the birth of their son, Chase Anthony. He was born on July 26, 2018. Alison will be returning to work at Elle Salon on September 19th.

Nail Dip Powders: The latest rage. We love them and here's why.

How does the dip powder nail application work? Instead of using LED lights to seal in your polish, the color comes from a pigmented powder. Between a sealant and base coats, you dip the nails into a jar containing powder of your desired color for a manicure that lasts 2 to 3 weeks.

Nail dip powder is a great alternative for those whose nails dry out from gel polishes or who are allergic to various ingredients in gel nails and acrylic nails. Dip Powder is formulated without harsh chemicals, has added vitamins to help strengthen your nails, and won’t damage the nail bed.
